Prayer Shawl Ministry
This ministry provides prayer shawls, baby blankets and prayer bears to those grieving the loss of a loved one, celebrating the birth of a new baby and to provide a tangible representation of God’s love to someone suffering. It also provides many of our church members with an opportunity to fellowship and participates in missions. There are knitting/crocheting groups that meet at the church and a local coffee house. The hand made items are prayed over both during the making and at a special prayer and healing service held at the church. The addition of prayer bears this year will make it easier to provide young children with something to remind them they are loved during any hospital stays. The program has provided shawls on an as needed basis to our local community but also through various support groups to those with specific ailments/diseases as well as providing helmet liners for soldiers deployed in Afghanistan.
If you would like to participate in this ministry or if you have need of a shawl or bear, please contact us at missions@mauldinmethodist.com
The Friendly Yarns Knitting/Crochet group meets on the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of each month at 9 AM at Downtown Coffee and Creamery on East Butler (across for the church) and a knitting/crochet class the 2nd Sunday of every month at the church at 6:00PM on the 2nd floor of the Spirit Center.
For the year of 2011 we gave out 198 prayer bears in four different countries including giving them to local fire departments to hand out to children when trajedy strikes, 65 prayer shawls and 8 baby blankets.
